SharePoint is a powerful collaboration tool that allows users to create and share content with others. One of the most important features of SharePoint is the ability to manage properties of a page. In this article, we will show you how to go to properties of a page in SharePoint.
Accessing the Page Properties
To access the properties of a page in SharePoint Modern, follow these simple steps:
- Navigate to the page you want to edit.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the page.
- Select "Edit" from the dropdown menu.
- Once the page is in edit mode, click on the "Page" tab in the ribbon.
- Click on the "Page Properties" button in the "Page" tab.
To access the properties of page in SharePoint Classic, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the page you want to edit
- Make sure you are NOT in design view
- Client on the gear icon in the top right corner of the page
- Select "Site Content" from the drop down menu
- Find the page from the SharePoint content menu, most likely it will live under pages folder
- Once you find the page, click on the three dots and select Details. A new properties page will show on the right hand side of the page
Editing the Page Properties
Once you have accessed the page properties, you can edit the following fields (becareful of editing the properties of a page):
- Title: This is the title of the page.
- Description: This is a brief description of the page.
- Keywords: These are the keywords associated with the page.
- Author: This is the name of the person who created the page.
- Contact & Contact Email: This is to override the contact person details at the bottom of the Classic Web Page
- Created: This is the date the page was created.
- Modified: This is the date the page was last modified.
To edit any of these fields, simply click on the field and make the necessary changes. Once you have made your changes, click on the "Save" button in the top left corner of the page.
Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble accessing the page properties, make sure that you have the necessary permissions to edit the page. If you do not have the necessary permissions, contact your SharePoint administrator to request access.
If you are still having trouble accessing the page properties, try clearing your browser cache and cookies. Sometimes, cached data can cause issues with SharePoint.
