Please note: This guide is only applicable for Non-Matter Workspace. For a matter workspace, you will need to submit a Walls request.
There are three types of folder security:
- Public: Anyone can access the folder/workspace and modify the content.
- View: Anyone can access the folder/workspace but only the owner or the one given full edit right can edit.
- Private: No one can access to folder/workspace, only users with specific permissions can access the folder.
Steps to Change Folder Security in iManage
Follow these steps to change the folder security in iManage:
- Open iManage and navigate to the folder/workspace you want to change the security for.
- Right-click on the folder and select "Properties" from the context menu.
- In the "Properties" dialog box, click on the "Security" tab.
- Select the appropriate security level from the "Folder Security" drop-down menu. You can choose from Public, View or Private.
- If you choose "Private," click on the "Permissions" button to set the specific permissions for the folder.
- In the "Permissions" dialogue box, select the users or groups you want to grant access to and set the appropriate permissions.
- Click "Save Changes" to save the changes.
Troubleshooting
If you are unable to change the folder/workspace security in iManage, here are some troubleshooting tips:
- If the folder/workspace is protected under Walls, contact the Walls admin to change the security.
- Make sure you have the necessary permissions to change the folder security. If you don't, contact the help desk team.
- After you change the folder/workspace security, the documents might not follow the rule that you have set. Contact the help desk team to refile the folder/workspace
